The World Series of Poker (WSOP) Events schedule for 2018 has some mouth-watering events. The series will run from May 29 to July 17 at the Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas. This year, the WSOP will be bigger and better as the WSOP Big One for One Drop makes its return while there are eight new events added to the series. Casino poker players from around the world need to keep in mind the following schedule as we edge closer to the biggest poker tournament in the world.
With eight new events at this years’ series, there is certainly an event for every poker player. Here is a quick rundown of the new poker events, $10 000 No Limit Hold ’em Super Turbo Bounty, $100 000 No Limit High Roller, $1 000 Double Stack No Limit Hold ’em, $365 THE PLANT GLO, $1 500 Pot Limit Omaha Bounty, $565 WSOP.com ONLINE Pot Limit Omaha 6-Handed, The Closer- $1 500 No Limit Hold em, and $50 000 No Limit Hold ’em High Roller.
The World Series of Poker has traditionally been characterised by low numbers of female poker players. There have been many reasons cited for this with many claiming that it is as a result of a low number of females who take up poker globally. However, this has been discredited by many who argue that many women even from the developing countries are taking part in poker events in the countries. They argue that the reason why the WSOP has seen fewer women participating over the years is because the WSOP has been prioritising male events with over 80 percent of the events at the WSOP being dedicated to men. However, by introducing more events at the WSOP, including women events, this is expected to at least give more women an avenue to come and participate at one of the biggest and most prestigious poker tournament the world has to offer.
The new events at the WSOP for 2018 allow only players with poker experience, this is different from other events for men which are open to all including some looking to start their poker adventure at the biggest stage. However, the addition of more poker events for women at the WSOP is a positive step that has to be applauded.
Apart from the new events, there are the traditional crowd puller events where all the top guns will be competing for top honours. These include the COLUSSUS series, Mixed Triple Draw Lowball, Dealer’s Choice 6-Handed, Seven Card Stud, Seniors Championship, Poker Player’s Championship, Ladies Championship, Crazy Eight No Limit Hold em, and H.O.R.S.E.
